One of the primary goals
of the FCTA is to represent our members before the Florida Legislature,
and to protect and defend the interests of the cable telecommunications
industry in Florida.
Florida
Statutes and Constitution
This area provides electronic copies of the Florida Statues and Constitution,
many of which relate directly to the provision of cable and advanced telecommunications
services in the state. Statutes may be searched by keyword using an indexing
system.
Online Sunshine
- The Official Guide to the State of Florida Legislature
This is a comprehensive service providing information on all aspects of
state government including a citizens' guide to the legislature, daily
calendars and journals, statutes and the Constitution, lobbyist information,
economic and demographic information, links and connections to other Florida
government web sites, and a comprehensive guide to Florida's executive,
legislative, judicial branches and congressional personnel.
Florida Public
Service Commission
The Florida Public Service Commission has rate and service authority over
investor-owned electric utilities, investor-owned natural gas distributers,
local exchange telephone companies and privately owned water and wastewater
utilities, with limited jurisdiction over rural electric cooperatives
and municipally owned electric utilities. The PSC's main objectives are
to protect consumers from unreasonable rates and terms of service; to
encourage maximum efficiency in utility company operations and management;
to ensure public safety and help the public deal with regulated companies;
and to establish regulatory standards and apply them in a fair and consistent
manner.
Federal Communications Commission
The FCC is an independent government agency charged with encouraging competition
in all communications markets and protecting the public interest. At the
direction of Congress, the FCC develops and implements policy concerning
interstate and international communications by radio, television, wire,
satellite, and cable. |
